MEM - celebrating its 35th anniversary this year - was awarded a top prize at the 2012 Supplier of the Year ceremony hosted by DIY chain store, Toom. Toom is a key player in the German DIY market with more than 300 stores. MEM was selected by store managers from more than 700 suppliers, based on their innovation, reliability and delivery quota.

As part of its growth strategy, Bostik is restructuring its global R&D footprint around three technical centers of excellence: in Milwaukee (USA), Shanghai (China) and CompiÃ¨gne (France). The new French R&D center will be operational by mid-2014 and will ultimately house 150 researchers in its environmentally efficient building.

âInnovation is at the heart of Bostik's identity, and technology is the cornerstone of our success,â stated Bernard Pinatel, Bostikâs Chairman and CEO. âThe future center in CompiÃ¨gne will have a dual role, both global and regional. It will include the upstream research center for our leading-edge technologies, worldwide, and will strengthen our downstream research for product innovation and technical assistance aimed at our European customers.â

CompiÃ¨gne was selected as an ideal location to benefit from the regionâs numerous teaching and research institutions in green chemistry and agricultural resources. âOur relationships with Industry and Agro-Resources (IAR); the PIVERT Institute of Excellence for carbon-free energy (IEED); and the regionâs engineering schools, including the University of Technology in CompiÃ¨gne (UTC) and ESCOM, the higher education institution for organic and mineral chemistry, will be greatly enhanced,â affirmed Bernard Pinatel.

In 2012, Bostik continued its global growth program with the start-up of a factory in Egypt, the acquisition of Usina Fortaleza, Brazil's leading tile adhesives manufacturer, and the creation of a third production site in China.
